Purple Reign

Boy has it been a long time! I have missed blogging, the last few weeks of school were so brutal. It's over, it was a tremendous quarter of growth and self discovery for me. More like affirmation rather than discovery maybe? Taking more of my core classes reaffirmed that I have finally chosen the right path for me. I really enjoy this field of Interior Design. Even after finding out things that I wasn't expecting about the industry, or for the first time really working my butt off in school, because everything is not coming so easy for me (I'm talking about you Auto CAD). I finished school a weeks ago I think, and I have just been distressing, and I really haven't felt very motivated to blog either. Don't get me wrong, everyday I think about it, and I missed the process, but I just haven't seen or felt passionate about anything that I wanted to share. I was okay with that, instead of feeling like I had to come up with something, I just went with it. I figured once my brain was ready, I will be back. Last thing I want to do is to post for the sake of it.

That wall is no doubt the focal point in this room. I love the height of the headboard against the half painted wall. The pillows, the prints on them and the rug is just perfect. You can see the Moroccan influence, but it is nicely balanced with some modern touches.
The last few weeks of school I noticed myself being drawn to rich purple tones with my projects. I've never really been a purple person. Lately lavender, but never really deep rich purples. It is said to be the color of royalty, and I think I finally get it. It is quite regal.

This beautiful crocheted blanket brings in such warmth and softness to this room. This room could have easily been on the very formal side, but the addition of this beautiful blanket loosens it up.
I love this saturated shade of purple for this couch.
This chair is sexy!!! The lines and that plush luxurious velvet upholstery. I'm a fan of purple with yellow too.

I love the round bubble rug. I like this mix of industrial and classic design.
I find this room so perfectly eclectic and sophisticated.
How have you all been? Thanks to all of you who checked in regularly and bared with me on my long absence. Wishing you a lovely weekend!

Friends, Food, and Family

Happy Sunday!! Are you having a lovely weekend? It's Memorial Day weekend in the U.S. For all you who have the long weekend, I hope you have a great one! This weekend a dear friend had a surprise birthday that we went to last night. It was at one of the coolest bar/lounges I've ever been to. They had a killer terrace (didn't get photos of it, sadly). The inside was an industrial, midcentury, cool modern success. It was a super cool chill place, perfect for a gathering of friends.

This was the cutest lamb cake and it was even more delicious!

I am always amazed at how getting out and hanging out with good friends, lifts the spirit. Each time I do these things I am reminded of how these meaningful connections enrich our life. For me especially as a homebody it can be a chore to get out of my little nest. I am comfortable, I like my nice quiet time with my family. But every once in a while having good friends over, to laugh at silly stories, exchange ideas, or go out and do the same does wonders for the soul.

This morning I woke up craving some good music while I made our Sunday breakfast. My older daughter now always asks for pancakes every Sunday, and my mixed berry sauce has to be made. Now its' to a point she'll tell me make sure my plate has two strawberries, two blueberries and two raspberries. I find it adorable and heartwarming. I sometimes can't believe that I have a family of my own, and to top it off even our own family traditions. I was Instagram happy too (one of the side effects of good music) so took pics of our breakfast. It was yummy too. :-)

Have a wonderful weekend, and I hope yours too is filled with much love and happiness!

Happy, Cheery, Kitchens!

Anyone up for some very cozy, cheery, some might even say girly kitchens? I was researching something else, and got sidetracked by these sweet spaces. It appealed to my very girly sensibility.

This week or for the next two weeks I'm designing for a client who has a very modern taste, clean lines, masculine, and he has two long haired cats. It has been fun and a great learning experience. If you've been reading this blog for a while, you know I like my frilly stuff so this is somewhat new territory. Oh I should say this is not a real client but a made up one for class :-). Any who, I have come across some amazing cutting edge designs that I have to say I quite like. I'll maybe share some of the pieces I've picked for my guy. I decided not to go the traditional everything dark route, I've decided that he likes modern, luxury, and colorful pieces. Okay enough about that.

How are you doing? What has your week been like? Any fun plans for the weekend you'd like to share? I'd love to hear.

Sweet Vintage Home

I have a weak spot for soft feminine spaces. I am unashamedly a girly girl, who loves pinks, soft blues, yellows, flowers, floral patterns, all of that. I love vintage and the frilly vintage really gives my heart little happy skips. This charming holiday home is utterly adorable with it's soft color palette and sweet floral patterns.

I always love the combination of white, pink, and turquoise, throw in some yellow and its perfection. Charming home this is.

Global Chic

Ah this space has got my head reeling people! It is gorgeous. I was looking through Nate Berkus' site after a friend told me that she was watching his show and somebody on there reminded her of me. Of course I had to go find out, didn't see what I was looking for, but I found something much better.

This space ticks so many of my design love boxes: the Moroccan lanterns, rustic pieces, white walls, pops of color (loving the yellow), ethnic textiles, and rugs. The decor is so rich with all the mixtures of strong design elements. The tall ceilings with the beautiful white beams serves as a good anchor for all the design elements to work harmoniously.

The cutouts of the door and that gorgeous green wall with the metal finish tub, is the perfect ending to a long day, I imagine.

Bolig Magazine

I was perusing the the Danish magazine Bolig, and I was completely drawn to this space I'm about to share with you. Complete eye candy I think.

I adore the kitchen area! Even though the space is quite contemporary and clean, you can tell it is very much lived in with all the kids art work, and easy vibe of the furniture, and arrangement of things. I really like that art work in the first picture too.

That was some eye candy on a beautiful Saturday for you. :-) Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Spaces I'm Loving

Hey y'all! I'm in a y'all kinda mood tonight. I feel a bit out of it tonight, not quite sure why really. How are you doing? I think my daughter's 1st birthday party we got coming up this weekend might be driving me into my usual anxious mood, while planning a party. I still have a few things to take care of, I decided to do her birthday banner myself and paper flower daisies - it's a ladybug theme :-). Her sister will be helping with the flowers which she is totally excited about.

Elle Interior
That brick wall makes this room so special. I don't know that without that the brick it would be this gorgeous. I can't help but wander around the room a bit. There are so many beautiful details, the lucite table which I'm usually not too crazy for, is so great in this room.

Elle Interior
I love how bright and casual this room is. The floral print is so exuberant in a way only florals can be.
Coco & Kelly
I love EVERYTHING about this room, the graphic striped rug, clustered chanderlier, and those wishbone chairs. Talk about wishbone chairs I am really digging them lately.
Anna Spiro
Nobody does patterns like Anna, and this room is phenomenal. It is quick and easy to get it wrong when mixing patterns, but when it's right, it's right!

What have you planned for this weekend? Make it a lovely weekend! I will share some photos of my DIYs - wish me luck.

Two Milk House Tours

Milk the fabulous french magazine is always filled with inspiring images. You can' help but find a space that stops you in your tracks. I find that I always find something delightfully inspiring that gives me a kick start. I want to share two very different spaces, yet they both work so well and are equally gorgeous.

I love the maximalist approach in this space. It has a very easy vibe, perfect for kids. It is not too precious that you are worried about kids messing up, or breaking something. They can write on the wall and it will look like its all part of the decor. The mix of colors is gorgeous. I love that pink dresser. I love seeing shared kids spaces as I will soon need to create a space for my two girls, and a part of me is not ready to do that. My older daughter's room is probably my favorite room in the house. Her room is the first room I completed, and since then things have been removed and added. It fits her so well, and she is already at a stage where she likes to pick out little finds for her space. Just today she picked out the cutest little framed needle point for her room. I have to say I was quite proud, I have a little prodigy. :-)

I love white walls in kids rooms. I think because it works as a great canvas to layer on all the colors and patterns. I do like the simplicity and clean lines of this spaces, and the pops of pinks are brilliant.
Are you a less is more or more is more kinda person? When it comes to kids rooms what is your approach?

Have a beautiful day!
