Exuberant!

I really just like how the word exuberant sounds. It's the sound of it, and the image it conjures up in my head that makes it sound oh so wonderful. It seems everytime I see or hear the word there is something fabulous to follow. More times than not that has been the case. Today, I share some exuberantly upholstered furniture with you that I found on Inside Out the fab Australian magazine. They are so exuberant (okay I promise I've got it out of my system, and won't say it again) that they made my heart go pitter patter.

Did your heart skip a beat too, looking at these? Have a very exuberant weekend! Okay I lied, I couldn't help myself..hahaha.

I Want A Moroccan Blanket!

I really want a Moroccan blanket!  I’ve wanted one from the first time I laid eyes on it online. Sadly, or fortunately for me it’s only been online, I just might run with it if I saw one in person. :-)
I like Le Souk’s collection of things, a lot of it is North African designed, or inspired as you can guess from the name - some are made/from Morocco or Egypt. Their products range from home to personal accessories.

My grandmother had pretty much this exact same table, except it was bigger and the tray part was copper (as a kid I thought it was gold). I remember how she would take it outside, scrub it with lime and sand every few months. I thought it was so fascinating that she could do that, and make it all shiny again. When I think back to some of the things she had, I hope and wish that she still has some.  In Gambia old things aren’t as priced as they are in the western world. That saddens me, because I think of all the wonderful things she had that she probably has gotten rid of by now.

I would have never thought to crochet a rug, but it is brilliant and gorgeous! It completely warms up this space, it looks very homey and cozy. I could just lay on this rug cuddled up in a warm soft blanket and a good book, with fire crackling in the background. Here I go with my dreaming mind.

I am head over heels for everything in this space. Absolutely love the chunky knitted blanket, pillows, and pouf.  I really need a few poufs in my life.

I hope you saw some things that you liked too.  I wish you a day filled with beauty!

Is Everything Happier in Australia?

At the risk of sounding narrow minded, I still have to ask this. Is it just me, or do the happiest designs come from Australia? It seems like every interior shop, magazine, anything I see from 'down under' just looks brighter and happier, and always beautiful! Maybe it's the sunshine and people are happier, therefore they can't help but be surrounded by beautiful and happy things. I'm okay with seeming naive, and unaware when it comes this. Well, Ada and Darcy will help me with my case, they are an interiors and homewares boutique located in Australia. Their online shop is full of beautiful housewares, from decorative items to furniture. Ada and Darcy source their unique materials locally, and internationally. I've rounded up a wishlist, a very unrealistic one, but  quite lovely nonetheless. :-)

I don't think I've met a blue, and white combo I haven't liked, and that is the case in the first pillow. That print is too gorgeous!! What about this metallic gold pouf - it is all kinds of global glamour. It will bring an extra something special to any interior. It would be lovely clustered with other colors, or even another metallic color, like the silver one they have.

I think this ginger jar would be gorgeous in an all white kitchen, it would warm up any cold modern room. I think in a traditional space it could go a bit old fashion, but hey, if you love it, you love it. I think in my old age I'm liking flower patterns on anything and that is a okay with me :-).

I am already thinking about spring and how I want to change up our bedroom. It's currently nice serene tones, and textures of cream. For spring I want to add soft pinks, yellows, blues, and turquoise, maybe repaint the walls white. That printed quilt is right along the lines of what I'm thinking about.

These chippendale chairs, highly out of my price range, but I can't help but lust after them. The seat fabrics can be custom made, and I really really love this Designers Guild fabric. These would make great accent chairs, but I'd use them as dinning chairs probably paired with a super rustic farm table. The pink is the one I'm eyeing of course.

Have you seen anythig that you would like to add to your home too?

Thrift Finds

I really love all the goodies I got today. I love that it was a completely unplanned trip, I decided to stop at a thrift store on my way to Home Depot to buy paint. I did so good, and frankly I was just sucked in so I had to stop at the one down the street. I am so happy I did though because look at what I found!

My favorite find is definitely the big guy, but this sweet girl is a close second. I think the framed crocheted butterfly will be gorgeous in a different frame. I don't think this frame will survive to go through spray painting as planned.

So I have to admit when I saw this sweet print of the little girl, my first thought was  Antique Roadshow :-).
Love love this little guy. I couldn't stop chuckling when I saw this, and knew I had to have it.
You all enjoy the rest of your night, and I wish you a lovely week!

Sunday Book Inspiration - Bazaar Style

Hello everyone! Are you having a good Sunday? I have a lovely book to share with you today. Bazaar Style by Selina Lake was just the book I needed this weekend. I have all these ideas of things I want to do in the house, and not the budget to match. I'm sure some of you out there know exactly what I'm talking about. I was flipping through it like I have done countless times before, so many of the images and tricks/ideas stood out to me. The whole idea is to decorate with thrift, flea market and bazaar finds. I love the decorating style, because it's very relaxed, personal, and cozy. I can't think of a more personal and unique way of decorating.

Look at that gorgeous wallpaper with the the old rustic table and the glossy table lamp. I really love that mix - thats what it's really all about.

I love thrift shopping, and I imagine shopping at a bazaar to be thrifting on steroids :-). One of my biggest dreams is to go shopping  at a Moroccan and Turkish bazaars.

These gorgeous candlesticks are arranged in this alcove and they look like an art piece. Beautiful!

I am really liking that teapot. Pillows are a great way to to add color, texture and personality to a room. And this room is a great example of that. I can see changing these pillows, and adding different ones making this room a completely new one.

This room is full of personality, and style. Nothing is too precious but everything is beautiful, and interesting.

Crushing - Caitlin Wilson Textiles

I am really crushing on Caitlin Wilson fabrics today, and wishing I really could sew. I've decided on a new year's resolution, and that is it - to finally learn to sew or re-learn. I had to take sewing classes all through middle school along with cooking, and how to take care of the home...I can't help but laugh as I type this. I guess I was in training to be a good homemaker. I liked the cooking class, hated the sewing. Suddenly I can't help but daydream about a workspace filled with gorgeous textiles, where I'm constantly churning out pillows, curtains, like a little fabric elf. :-)
Okay back to the point of this post, Caitlin Wilson Textiles, and the lady behind it all Caitlin Wilson.

Her fabrics are so sophisticated and fresh. I love her color choices and prints. She is an interior designer, mother, and wife. She is very pretty too, she's just got it all :-). I love seeing successful, talented women - always so inspiring.
I encourage you to take a peek at her site, and check out all her beautiful stuff.

I have a few things to work on this weekend, exciting stuff. I'll be sharing some later. I hope you have a beautiful weekend!

Beautiful Blogs Abound!

Ah, the world wide web can be such a wonderful place. Last night, instead of studying, when I was supposed to, I was trolling design sites and blogs as I talked about in this post. I love how you can go from one blog to the next, because one talked about the other and so on and on. I've found many a wonderful blog this way. Design bloggers just seem to be so generous and welcoming, and even encouraging. I am new to the blogging thing, even fairly new to folllowing blogs. I've really only followed a couple consistently for the last year and a half. I stumbled on Design Manifest, and the owner Naomi last night, and I couldn't leave her site. It was so inspiring and beautiful. She really has a great eye, and I can't help but share some of these shots.

I think in the last month I have used the word inspiring and its many forms more than I have in my entire life. But I am surrounded by inspiration and overwhelmed by it in a good way, and I think because I have been open to it, and I let it take me where it will, that I have been more aware of it. I love it, I really love how inspiring everything has become. Even the bad things, I have managed to look at what good/beautiful things I can take out of them, and run with that.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these photos from Naomi's lovely blog and work!  My favorite thing about her place is the way she mixes patterns, you've got to have pure talent, and taste to put things together in this manner.

On a side note I also got Poolside by Cozamia while idling online last night. I call that productive actually, won't you? :-) They had a 20% sale plus I had an additional 5% so I had a great deal.
I can't wait to get it in my hot litte hands.

I hope you are having a beautiful week!
