A Frame of Quotes

The story behind the frame - bought it at a thrift store a long time ago, forgot I had it. The other day it was peeking out from the bag in the garage, I think it was telling me its time I use it for something.
I've being wanting to print out some quotes that have been inspiring me lately, and put them up somewhere, and this was the perfect opportunity. This is a great and simple way to bring together things you love in one spot and have it at an accessible area of your home. I don't know if I'll move it, but for now its perfect above the sink.

Have a lovely and inspiring day!

Wow Moment - Dottir & Sonur

I am beyond inspired and excited about this light from Dottir & Sonur. What a gorgeous brilliant idea! Why nobody ever thought about adding beads like this to lighting, I don't know! But better late than never I guess.
I'm working on my own light project that is turning out quite nicely. Can't wait to share with you. :-)
Bye for now.

Mercury Love

Happy shiny Monday! I want to talk mercury today - some call it vintage or aged glass. There is a romantic quality about a mercury finish that really speaks to me. I especially love them in votive candle holders, as they cast the most amazing glow. I've rounded up a few other pieces in the same finish that I really like.

I also love that they can fit very nicely into all design styles, they have that old world quality that never goes out of style. A little bit goes a long way with these.

The use of an industrial shaped light with a mercury finish is a wonderful mix.

Happy Heart

Warning, this is not a design post! But my heart is so happy, and I wanted to share part of my day with you, in pictures, and a few words. My older daughter, Jalika who turns four in a week, had her first dance (tap and ballet) recital, and I couldn't have been prouder, and happier watching her. All the kids looked so adorable, and excited to show off their dance moves. There is an enthusiasm and excitement that little ones have, that is so contagious if you let it. I went through the videos, and I couldn't believe I started crying - tears of joy of course. I guess my heart was just too happy.

Baby sister was there to support big sis.
She really just wanted that camera. :-)

Proud mama bear and her kiddos :-)
I wish you much happiness! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

What Do You Think? - Nicolette Camille Floral Design

Happy Friday! It feels good to say that, doesn't it? :-) I hope you have a great weekend planned. I have a few things I'm looking forward to.  My Friday so far is going super well, took my daughter to school this morning, came home had left over pad thai for breakfast, with coffee, and some clementines. Now I'm just reading magazines and catching up on emails.

I was reading the WSJ Magazine fashion issue, and saw an ad that said Flowers Every Week and of course that had my curiosity peaked. Nicolette Camille Floral Design based in Brooklyn, New York has a service that you can arrange with your local florist if available, to have fresh flowers delivered every week to your home - service starting at $150. I'm thinking what a lovely idea, it's a special treat for yourself every week.

I had to find out more about the people behind this wonderful idea. I love the arrangements, they all look so effortless and dreamy, my kind of flower arrangement.

I love this beautiful arrangement with the soft lilacs, yellow, and blush. It feels very nice and easy. I hope these beautiful arrangements brought some beauty to your day.  I certainly can't afford the price tag for this deal, but I do love the idea. I usually buy an arrangement at my local Trader Joe's every weekend when I go grocery shopping for only $5.99 sometimes even cheaper.  I think flowers are an easy and wonderful way to bring beauty to your home - they brighten up any space. A lot of women wait for a man to buy us flowers, why not do it ourselves. You don't need a special occassion to have some beauty in your life. So go out there and buy yourself a beautiful arrangement, and you don't have to spend a fortune on it. :-)

I wish you a lovely weekend!

The Persian Rug

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well! It has been an eventful few days for me. I had finals this week thats why I haven't posted lately. The craziest thing happened to me - I slipped and fell down the stairs at home last week.  I hurt my knee pretty bad but thankfully I'm doing okay, hobbling along. :-) I say lets talk about pretty stuff, nothing brightens up my day like it. Today, I want to talk about rugs,  more specifically - Persian Rugs!

Via here
It's always said that a rug grounds the room, and there are many out there who believe that it is possibly the single most important piece of the puzzle when designing a space. I can't think of an essential design piece that brings depth, and soul to a room like the persian rug does. I don't care how "cold" a space is, nothing warms it up quicker than a persian rug.

Whatever your design aesthetic, you can easily design a beautiful room around a persian rug, and I love that it is always in style. I especially love it incorporated into a more modern design, I like the juxtaposition of the old and new. It makes it all so very interesting not to mention how gorgeous it always looks.

Via Homedit
It is possibly the only thing that looks great and works in any type of design style. I really love the red tones, and lately I've been thinking that I want a couple in my home, maybe one for the living room, and a runner or two for the hallway. These bad boys aren't cheap though, so I'll have to go on a serious hunt. Ebay here I come! :-)

Via Landry & Arcari
What do you think about the good ole persian rug? They have been around for centuries, and they are still a priced possesion by design, and non-design enthusiasists alike. That says a lot about this beautiful tradition.

Moving On - Quote of the Day

“There is a time for departure even when there's no certain place to go." - Tennesse Williams

A dear friend sent me the quote above at a time when I need it the most. It has been so reassuring for me, even empowering, so I wanted to share it. Every time I look at it, it quiets down my very loud worrier voice. I hope that it brings someone out there some comfort too.
