Beautiful Day!

I just came back from a jog people! Okay maybe not a full blown jog, more like jog one minute, walk 10 but still. It is such a gorgeous day. I woke up to sunshine today, as soon as baby Z woke up, I fed her, strapped her in her stroller and off we went. Thankfully I had my dandy phone to take pictures to share with you. The trail by our home was filled with pink blooms, birds were chirping, the air was so nice and fresh, and there was this beautiful scent in the air. Everyone we came across had a smile on their face, and were beyond friendly. I tell you what a little sunshine can do, especially after a long stretch of grey skies.

I had to snap a photo of this cute little purple house.

I brought a branch home, and now the house smells really nice. Unfortunately the vase will be moving soon, before one of the kids gets to it. I'm surprised baby girl hasn't tried to pull it down yet. :-)

I hope you are having a beautiful day!

The Shop at Number 57

Hello everyone! How has your week been? School started for me this week and I am already buried with homework. Most of it is fun kind of homework - I get to start designing a loft for a made up person :-). I am excited! I am also doing a research paper and presentation on the great Elsie de Wolfe, which has been a good learning experience for me. I've decided I need to look back, and learn about the greats of this industry who have paved the way for the rest of us today. Elsie is considered the first interior decorator of the US, she is the first person to decide that she can make this a profession, and along with that she brought a lot of fresh ideas to a time when people were only stuck on victorian design.

I saw a picture from The Shop at Number 57 on Decor 8 the other day, and I was immediately drawn to it in the way that you have to find out more. Oh, do they have many gorgeous stuff on there. A husband and wife team give old and neglected pieces a new lease on life.  They also produce some sweet prints like in the pictures above, and crafts with a beautiful modern twist.

I love how they took something considered a "granny" look, and made it modern, and fresh.

How cute and funny is this?!

You can take a closer look at The Shop at Number 57 over here if you'd like. I have to say one of my favorite things about their products is that, you can feel their sense of humor in them. They are very joyful.

3D Wallpaper - Catherine Hammerton

I wonder if this brilliant idea has been around and I am the last to discover it. 3D wallpaper, it sounds so technical but is anything but that. I came upon them while on the site of British designer Catherine Hammerton.

This ethereal hanging wall panel is made out of hand dyed paper cups! Yup, paper cups, now that's the cup that keeps on giving.

I like the scalloped and textured edges of this wallpaper. I can imagine everyone wanting to touch it the moment they lay eyes on them. I can see these in soft pinks, mints, any pastels really.

I am drawn to tactile things, and I'm sure that's part of the draw to these wallpapers.  The handmade quality is not lost on these either. These flower cutouts were dyed, and hand stitched to a traditional wallpaper.

What do you think about these wallpapers?

Beautiful Black and White: Annaleena Leino

Annaleena Leino is an Interior Stylist who just launched her gorgeous site with her impressive portfolio. I first came across Annaleena's work when a search landed me on her blog, Annaleena's Hem. I was smitten ever since, and I haven't stopped visiting. I feel compelled to share her work, I find it so beautiful in it's discipline. Obviously you have to be completely inspired and love what you work with  to so with such a limited palette. Another great thing about it, is that even though she's only working with two or three colors her work is always fresh and new, it doesn't feel repetitive.

If you are a follower of Annaleena's work, you know that she usually works in black, white, and some natural tones, sometimes. I love color, but I also appreciate a good monochromatic scheme.  I can't say that I can live in a space with just black and white, but I can't help admiring it.

Happy Monday guys! I wish you a very beautiful week.

Global Chic

Ah this space has got my head reeling people! It is gorgeous. I was looking through Nate Berkus' site after a friend told me that she was watching his show and somebody on there reminded her of me. Of course I had to go find out, didn't see what I was looking for, but I found something much better.

This space ticks so many of my design love boxes: the Moroccan lanterns, rustic pieces, white walls, pops of color (loving the yellow), ethnic textiles, and rugs. The decor is so rich with all the mixtures of strong design elements. The tall ceilings with the beautiful white beams serves as a good anchor for all the design elements to work harmoniously.

The cutouts of the door and that gorgeous green wall with the metal finish tub, is the perfect ending to a long day, I imagine.

Tablescaping - Anthropologie Style

I am a huge fan of Anthropologie for good reason, they always get it right! I particularly love their jewelry, table and dinnerware, cloths, bags - almost everything right :-). Their new collection of tableware leaves me longing for a basketful of gorgeous bowls and mugs. Here are some beauties to feast your eyes.

To say that I love intricately design dinnerware is an understatement and few do it like Anthro does.

This floral plate will make for a happy al fresco dining experience.

Happy Friday!
